Laser diffraction for particle sizing

Laser diffraction is one of the most common techniques for particle size analysis. It is based on the observation that the angle of (laser) light diffracted by a particle corresponds to the size of the particle. In a complex sample containing particles of different sizes, light diffraction results in a specific diffraction pattern. By analyzing such a pattern the exact size composition (i.e. particle size distribution) of the sample can be deduced.

Particle size is a common parameter of quality control that affects both the production process and the final properties of a product. Laser diffraction is a valuable tool for determining particle size, from the sub-micron to the millimeter range. The objective of this workshop is to experience the simplicity of measuring particle size in dry and wet mode by laser diffraction technique with a single click of button.
